Now that the dust has settled on the iPhone 12 launch... what's the verdict on the street? Actually, it's complicated (isn't it always!).
Really into photos and videos? Then the iPhone 12 is for you. The iPhone 12 now offers night mode, deep fusion and ultra wide configurations. For those with some spare change, the iPhone 12 Pro offers a third camera lens for telephoto capabilities, as well as a LiDAR scanner for improved auto-focus.
The quality of the screen display is better on the iPhone 12 with its all screen OLED displays and higher resolution. The processor upgrade to A14 gives a nice boost to the graphics too.
So with these in mind, would there be some scenarios where you're better off getting the iPhone 11?
Yes if you're budget conscious! Apple has retained the iPhone 11 in its lineup and it's now a bargain at A$999 (64GB model) compared to a smaller iPhone 12 mini which starts at A$1199. So if saving $$$ is your thang, stick to the iPhone 11.
Design-wise it can be argued that the return to the flat sided design is a bit more clunky and less comfortable to hold. If you talk on the phone for lengthy periods, stick to the iPhone 11.
Lastly, 5G connectivity. Great in theory but 5G coverage is pretty scant outside major cities like Sydney and Melbourne. So it was great for Apple to future-proof their devices by making them 5G compatible but if you're not living in an area that's likely to have 5G rolling out soon, may be stick to the iPhone 11.
