Earlier this year, we attended the gala finals of the SF3 Smartphone Film Festival at the Sydney Opera House. The work on the festival was genuinely impressive, but what struck us was a simpler observation: the device behind it was already in everyone's pocket.
The problem isn't the hardware. Most people know their smartphones are capable of more than they're using them for. The harder part is knowing where to start, and that gap between having a vision and actually creating something is where many people get stuck.
We think accessories are part of the answer. Filters, lenses, bags, mounts, and other gear makes the process easier, more enjoyable, and more likely to stick. But here's the thing: smartphone content creation accessories don't fit neatly into the existing market. They're neither camera gear nor phone accessories. That makes them easy to overlook, and we think that's worth fixing.
So we're launching Your Stories. Our Accessories. A year-long campaign built around one idea: creativity should be accessible to everyone, no matter where they're starting from.
Here's what we're putting out this year:
- Gear guides - honest breakdowns of what to buy first, what to add next, and what's worth it at every level.
- Creator stories - how people got started, what inspires them, and what they wish they'd known earlier.
- Community events - meetups, workshops, and demo days where you can get hands-on with gear and meet other creators.
- Personal projects - a follow-along series where we document our own project from first idea to finished piece.
